Written by Editor

We have been members of Bristol Tourism for many years as they are extremely proactive in promoting not only the exceptional City of Bristol, but businesses in the surrounding countryside that only enhance what Bristol has to offer.

Visit Bristol have managed to negotiate a discount for corporate business coming to Bristol with First Great Western Trains from London Paddington and the South East and this would be the perfect time to arrange corporate hospitality, staff incentives or team building in the South West.

Follow the link to find out more information on the deal which has to be booked via the Visit Bristol conference website at:

http://visitbristol.co.uk/conference/about-bristol/travel-to-bristol/first-great-western-conference-fares

We offer team building activities which are the perfect antidote to spending hours in a meeting room and range from full skid control training on our skid pan to combining the speed of go-karting with either skid pan training or 4x4 off road driving.    We can tailor make the event to suit your budget, group size and ultimate aims.   We do have our own meeting rooms and these can be hired when taking part in any driving activity with us.   The Hammerdown Suite can be blacked out and we provide AV equipment free of charge.

Visit Castle Combe for the perfect corporate event and meeting room facilities.

Castle Combe Karting Championship

Written by Jayne Cooper

2012 Castle Combe Karting Championship Round 4 Report

The fourth round of the 2012 Castle Combe Karting Championship attracted a decent grid of 23 drivers. This resulted in some great racing throughout the day. Antony Weeks lined up on pole for the first semi-final after winning all four of his heats. Leigh Janes took advantage of a mistake from Antony to take the lead and win the first semi-final.

Semi-Final two saw championship leader Kristian Jennings lining up pole, with Tim Janes lining up 2nd, a mistake from Tim allowed Kristian to build up a safe lead and take the victory. Semi-Final three saw a past junior champion, Will Foulkes taking part in his first adult league round, lining up on pole and taking a dominant victory.

Junior Karting - Round 2

Written by Jayne Cooper

The second round of the 2012 Autumn Castle Combe Junior Karting championship got off to a good start. 23 drivers turned up for the event, but the two drivers on the front row were the same as in the first round. This time however it was Dan Healey on pole, with Justin Draper in 2nd. Jack Jones lined up in 3rd after a very impressive run of results, Adam Street lined up 4th. Marley Joffe had a heavy accident during practice, but didn’t let it phase him and put in some strong performances during the heats to qualify 5th for the final. Matthew Baker lined up 6th, while Will Hertzell just missed out on the final by 1 point, despite setting fastest lap.

Dan Healey made the better start, maintaining the lead into the first corner. Jack Jones mad a great start as well, pulling up alongside Justin Draper. Unfortunately a little bit of contact resulted in Justin Draper hitting the barrier and dropping to last. This promoted Adam Street to 3rd, Marley Joffe to 4th and Matthew Baker to 5th.

Will Blackwell -Chambers Wins Charity Karting Event

Written by Jayne Cooper

Congratulations to Masda MX5 racer Will Blackwell-Chambers in winning last Saturday's Castle Combe Karting Challenge organised by commentator Ian Sowman and FF1600 racer Luke Cooper.

A very healthy grid of 45 drivers came along to try their skills out against each other.  Second place went to Rhys Jenkins who is also a Masda MX5 racer, whilst Third place was Adam Higgins who is a FF1600 racer.    The event managed to raised an amazing £723 for the Teenage Cancer Trust.   Thank you for our brilliant sponsors Aford Awards who donated the prizes.

The event details on our blog previously for the event were:-

Kart Champions past & present are entering this event. It currently has a number of Formula Ford 1600 drivers and Mazda drivers signed up. There is a Britcar driver and Ex Castle Combe Saloon Champion now Ford Fiesta ST driver, with a number of other drivers from race car championships across the country currently checking plans before 100% committing to the event.

The event will have a number of heats, all in preparation for the Semi-Finals. The top 26 drivers will make it through to the Grand Finals, with a C final, B final and A final. All 3 finals will be videoed for youtube, with trophies going out to the top 3 from the A final.

This event is taking place on the Saturday evening of Saturday 16th Castle Combe race meeting, on the Drive-Tech kart circuit. It is being organised by Ian Sowman Motorsport enthusiast/commentator/reporter raising money in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust. We are currently exploring a number of other ways of raising money for this excellent charity through the event.

Aford Awards will be sponsoring the events Trophies and will be supplying the event with some large Silver Cups with Engraving.  These Cups will be given out to the Winner, 2nd place and 3rd place Drivers.

FOUR LOCAL MAYORS GO KART RACE

Written by Editor

The Mayor of Westbury, David Windess, organised his second charity kart race with a share of the money raised  in aid of The Wiltshire Air Ambulance.   This time he managed to get mayors from 3 other towns to take part including Bradford-on-Avon mayor Peter Leach, Frome Mayor Nick White and Glenis Ansell the Mayor of Calne.    There were also teams from local businesses and pubs all trying to be the winning team in a very exciting, albeit  little damp endurance karting event.

Cllr Windess said in the Wiltshire Times "It was a very enjoyable event, althoughit was very wet and cold.  We managed to raise about £320 in total, which will be split between the charities evenly".

"The team from Rygor Commercials, Salisbury Branch were the winners and the team from the Crown Inn did very well"  "It was one of my last events as mayor and we managed to raise £2,300 for my two charities over the year, which has been good".

If you have a charity that you would like to raise money for and would like to organise a go karting event, please email the Drive-Tech Marketing Manager, Lyn Eden at to discuss in more detail.    If you would just like to come along and try karting yourself call the office on 01249 783010 and the team will give you more information.
