Drive-Tech is a founder member of ARKS – the Association of Racing Kart Schools and licences drivers to race at National level. Our Circuit and procedures comply with stringent safety regulations. An outline of our rules is given below, but you will receive a full safety briefing before your race meeting or training session.

Safety Considerations

Alcohol is banned at the Activity Centre during events, nor should any have been drunk before driving.

Kart racing is a NON CONTACT sport. Undisciplined and dangerous driving spoils the fun for everyone and will attract a penalty or disqualification.

Kart Driving

• There are just two pedals – the left pedal is the brake and the right is the accelerator. You brake with your left foot.
• There is no clutch – press the accelerator and you move forward, release it and you slow down!
• If you skid or spin to a halt, wait for the marshal to send you on your way again. NEVER try to get out or “scoot” the kart with hands or feet – this is for your own safety.

The Flag System:

YELLOW:

Danger ahead, slow down, no overtaking until you have cleared the hazard.
BLUE:
You are blocking another competitor, pull to one side and let the other driver past.
RED:
Cease racing, slow down to a walking pace, drive slowly to the marshal showing the flag and await instructions.
BLACK & WHITE DIAGONAL:
A warning to the driver that the standard of driving is unacceptable. A penalty will be applied to his/her score.
BLACK:
The driver has driven in a manner which has endangered other drivers or marshals; the driver is excluded from the heat and must return to the pits.
